MARCON 2013 will be held February 25th - 28th, in Knoxville, Tennessee at the Knoxville Marriott. This one-of-a-kind conference is a forum for all — practitioners, specialists, educators, students, and even the new and uninitiated — to learn and exchange information on new and emerging technologies as well as on tried and proven methods and techniques in the area of Reliability and Maintenance Engineering and Management. Reliability & Maintainability…it’s everyone’s business. MARCON 2013 will allow attendees from all facets of your organization to immerse themselves in ideas—some new, some reinforcing already known truths—to help them better understand their role in leveraging your reliability and maintainability program to world-class.
Presenters include: AMTEC, Bayer Technology Services, Cessna Aircraft, Eastman Chemical, Merck, Nissan, Novelis, Portola Packaging, Schlumberger, the University of Alabama and the University of Tennessee.
GenesisSolutions will be participating at this event. Steve Cormack (Principal Reliability Engineer) will be leading a presentation on Thursday, February 28 on:
Asset Management Master Planning: Uncovering Opportunities for OEE Improvements
This presentation will focus on the development and definition of an Asset Management Master Plan (AMMP), a DMAIC approach to moving maintenance operations up the Enterprise Asset Management maturity continuum model.
Following an introduction to the concepts and associated process of AMMP development, examples will be cited on how a planned Shutdown at a manufacturing facility was initiated during the 1st phase of an AMMP implementation. The planned shutdown and subsequent maintenance and reliability efforts resulted in significant and measurable OEE improvements.
Additionally, Randy Montgomery of ABS Consulting will be leading a workshop on Monday, February 25 on:
This workshop covers the concepts of modern reliability science and methodologies, emphasizing that systems should be developed, designed, and modified with reliability as a key goal. This workshop defines reliability and presents the three fundamental principles for achieving reliability excellence.
- Reliability terminology and concepts
- Reliability focused design considerations
- Cost considerations of unreliability
- Introduction to a variety of proactive reliability analysis techniques
- Application of root cause analysis (RCA) to chronic and acute equipment failures
- Basic principles and concepts of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM)
- Introduction to reliability culture change management
Lastly, Mary Bunzel, Worldwide Manufacturing Industry Leader at IBM, will be one of four keynote speakers. Mary’s presentation is on:
Integrated Maintenance and Operations: Driving More Efficient Operations Through Reliability
People plus process equals Safety and Reliability right? Not always, as we all know. What makes these challenges so difficult is the human factor. Understanding why we make mistakes and how the frameworks of RCM and PAS 55 attempt to close those gaps enables us to do a better job of Reliability. This keynote explains these human shortcomings, and compares techniques such as RCM to process improvements to describe how Reliability might be woven into basic asset life-cycle management.
