New Employee Spotlight: Brian Taite

Senior Reliability Engineer

Brian Taite graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 1992 and Bachelor of Civil Engineering in 1994 and went on to complete a Masters of Environmental Engineering in 1999. Prior to joining GenesisSolutions he was engaged as a consultant for a number of major oil companies, government agencies and within private industry for environmental site assessments, risk assessments, site remediation, project management and health and safety planning.

Working on environmental clean-up projects led to experience in maintenance and management of various remediation equipment systems. Along with overall project management, financial planning and cost control, Brian was involved with all aspects of project work including preparation of technical specifications, equipment refurbishment and optimization, corrective maintenance, failure modes identification and assessment, recommendations for system improvements, and the development of preventative maintenance routines.

In 2006, Brian joined the GenesisSolutions team as a contractor in The Netherlands as part of the Shell Upstream International Europe, Technical Integrity Enhancement Program (TIEP) for the ONEgas Asset. This includes almost 60 natural gas offshore production platforms and two onshore gas plants in the Southern North Sea. The project involves identification of safety critical elements, development of performance standards and review and development of maintenance routines in Shell Oil’s CMMS system (SAP Blueprint) to ensure the performance standard assurance tasks are well defined and fully covered under the preventative maintenance plans for all safety critical equipment.

Now a GenesisSolutions employee, Brian has embraced the opportunity to become involved with the North Sea Oil and Gas industry and to help Shell maintain its high safety standards through top tier maintenance programs and compliance activities. He has great personal and professional satisfaction while applying his background in maintenance and reliability engineering to enhance the technical integrity of ONEgas assets, protect the environment and ultimately ensure the safety of the people who work at these facilities.

GenesisSolutions - Tivoli Support Provider & Reseller

IBM Maximo Asset Management

GenesisSolutions has executed an IBM Tivoli Support Provider & Reseller Contract for the IBM Maximo Asset Management software application. With this new contract, GenesisSolutions is now an Authorized IBM Business Partner and officially licensed to resell, implement and provide Level One Support to IBM Tivoli’s Maximo Customers.

Although GenesisSolutions has been a business partner of IBM as a Systems Integrator for the past 12 years, this new contract solidifies a long standing business relationship and opens up a number of value-driven opportunities for our customer base.

Joe Pitman, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at GenesisSolutions commented: “This is a long time coming. We have been working closely with the IBM Maximo Asset Management team for years, and now we have a platform to build an even more profitable relationship and solutions to our mutual customer base. This new agreement makes sense for all parties, and we’re excited to align our IBM Maximo business practice to increase our customers overall satisfaction with their best-of-breed and industry defining application.”

GenesisSolutions will be a Gold Sponsor at the upcoming IBM Pulse 2012 conference to be held March 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada. In addition, we will be promoting our new relationship at both industry and regional Maximo User Group conferences throughout North America & Europe over the next several months.

GenesisSolutions & Solufy Announce Strategic Alliance

Commence First Teaming Engagement Summer 2011

GenesisSolutions and Solufy have announced a strategic alliance to expand their portfolio of service and software offerings to their customers and market base. GenesisSolution’s professionals will assist Solufy’s customers in the installation, training and rollout of the AKWIRE Visual Scheduler for the IBM Maximo Asset Management Software application.

Employee Spotlight: Tim Gilmer, Manager, Professional Services
Project Summary: CMMS Migration in a Biotechnology Environment
Service Announcement: Reliability Engineering Workshop
GenesisSolutions: Upcoming Events

Employee Spotlight: Tim Gilmer

Manager, Professional Services

Tim Gilmer began his career in 1987 as a Junior Chemist at Milliken Chemical after graduating from Wofford College with a degree in Biology. While at Milliken, Tim was responsible for R&D on several product lines which afforded him the opportunity to work with Engineering and Production personnel at two production facilities as well as both quality labs. During his time at Milliken, Tim co-authored two patents and piloted the company’s first ultra-filtration unit that recovered millions of dollars of product in the first year.

In 1990, Tim took a position as Technical Director with a company based in the UK that was starting a manufacturing facility in the US. Tim was the third employee hired and participated with building the facility, the installation and commissioning of equipment, developing base formulations for products, and developing all procurement relationships with raw material vendors. Tim was responsible for all technical aspects of the company, which also included Engineering and Maintenance. The company grew quickly and was financially self-sufficient inside of 36 months. The company developed a niche market for custom power coatings, and is currently one of the very few in the world that can deliver custom color and texture powder within 24 hours.

Tim took a position with Datastream Systems in the fall of 1994, where he was a consultant with the responsibility of helping customers install and setup Datastream’s CMMS products. Tim also trained the end-users on the application onsite as well as in structured classed offered by Datastream. Tim worked at Datastream until April 2003, and during this time he worked in Product Development, Direct Sales, Internal Training, and Corporate Training.

In 2003, Tim joined GenesisSolutions as a Principal Consultant, primarily focused on Datastream projects. Since that time, Tim has worked on many Datastream (now Infor EAM) and IBM Maximo Asset Management projects in various capacities. Tim is now a Manager of Professional Services and is responsible for the overall success and management of customer engagements. He has overseen successful EAM projects in the manufacturing, pharmaceutical and automotive industries. Tim ensures his customers success through strong project management skills, EAM system expertise and by driving team collaboration.

Project Summary: CMMS Migration within a Biotechnology Environment

IBM Maximo Asset Management migration to SAP PM

One of the world’s leading biotechnology companies needed to upgrade their IBM Maximo Asset Management system. A new corporate directive was driving their maintenance system to SAP PM. The impending transition to the new system was daunting from a data perspective, and GenesisSolutions was asked to support the system upgrade and data preparation based on our experience and long held and successful history with the company.

To read the complete Project Summary, please click Here

Reliability Engineering Workshop Service Offering

Announcement on Commercial Availability

GenesisSolutions announced this month the availability of a 3-day Onsite Reliability Engineering Workshop geared towards a facilities “Bad Actors” (Assets). Every plant has them, and through this workshop, you will be provided concrete steps to measurably improve their reliability and decrease their direct maintenance costs.

This workshop has been developed and delivered on a global basis to Fortune-500 companies over the past eight years. Through these efforts, it has become a company-wide global standard, and is now being made available on a commercial basis. It is intended for small groups (10-12 attendees) of Key Stakeholders & Reliability Professionals to establish real methods to achieve measurable results and the training to sustain it.

GenesisSolutions: Upcoming Events

Employee Spotlight: Bruce Eaton

Principal Consultant

Bruce Eaton began his career in the maintenance industry as an FAA Airframe and Power Plant Mechanic. After graduating from Purdue University in 1994 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering Technology, he began working in general aviation servicing and maintaining small to medium sized aircraft. Bruce started in industrial maintenance as a Maintenance Engineer with Fluor Daniels working on CMMS implementations and maintenance improvement projects where he contributed to large scale maintenance assessments and restoration projects in the petroleum and steel industry.

In 1998 he took an opportunity to join PSDI/MRO Software (Now IBM) as a consultant where he quickly became involved in large multisite Maximo implementations with companies in Transportation, Power Generation, Municipalities and Government. Bruce also assisted many clients with defining their business processes and improving and streamlining their use of maintenance software.

He continued in the maintenance software industry when he joined GenesisSolutions in 2001 where he is currently a Principal Consultant. He has been involved in many implementations including international roll outs, complex data migrations and upgrades from legacy and prior versions. Bruce has been helping GenesisSolutions’ customers define and implement solutions to improve their enterprise asset management systems with great success. Currently he is assisting one of the world’s leading agricultural processors with a global upgrade from Maximo 5 to 7. He has contributed in many areas including business process development, test script development, screen design, custom applications, custom integrations and report development.

Bruce ensures companies succeed through understanding their business needs and developing tailored solutions that aid organizations in achieving competitive effectiveness in their operations and maintenance software. He enjoys working with dynamic teams where he feels that he is truly contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Bruce holds a Commercial Pilots License and Instrument rating and can be seen boating around Lake Keowee, South Carolina with his wife and friends.

GenesisSolutions Delivers EAM Seminar to Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association

Mundy Caribe LLC Arranges Introduction to Customer Base

Mike Greenholtz & Joe Pitman of GenesisSolutions led an EAM & Reliability Strategy Seminar hosted by the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association in May 2011. The event, coordinated by Miguel Perez, General Manager of Mundy Caribe LLC, brought together thirty representatives from Puerto Rico’s manufacturers and service industries.

Seminar participants were shown how an EAM system is an effective tool to benchmark their current maintenance practices, measure performance, identify cost reduction opportunities and help define development of their Asset Management Master Plan. Attendees were shown the benefits obtained when a AMMP follows an EAM Maintenance Maturity Life Cycle and that Maintenance is not a cost rather an investment in the life of the organizations assets. Participants included Engineering Directors, Maintenance Managers and Reliability Engineers.

About PRMA

The Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association is a private, voluntary, non-profit organization established in 1928 with the purpose of uniting all Puerto Rico’s manufacturers and service industries into a strong and effective body in order to further their mutual interests as they relate to the private and public sectors of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

Employee Spotlight: Chad Bring, Senior Consultant
Project Profile: Pfizer Australia Reliability Improvements
EAM & Reliability Seminar: Houston, Texas - April 27, 2011
GenesisSolutions: Upcoming Events

Employee Spotlight: Chad Bring

Senior Consultant

Chad Bring, a Senior Consultant with GenesisSolutions, began his career as a quality control manager for Vanity Fair. In 1998, Chad accepted a transitional position as a field consultant with Datastream Systems where he helped customers implement and develop Datastream’s CMMS product line. Chad focused on helping clients realize the benefits attributed to Quality Based Production through better maintenance practices.

Chad transitioned from the consulting arena and accepted a plant management position with Oldcastle in late 2000. This challenging role included System Administration, Training and Mentoring, Quality, and Environmental Health and Safety Management responsibilities in a culturally diverse environment for the largest manufacturer of building products in North America. While his success in that role was rewarding Chad realized that he truly missed the consulting work and the diverse vertical exposure and challenges that come with those engagements.

Chad found himself at home in 2003 when he accepted a position with GenesisSolutions. He has worked in multiple role assignments for Genesis ranging from Field Engineer to Project Manager. His skill sets in Engineering Services, Reliability, Validation and Testing, Configuration, and Business Process Re-engineering allow Chad to transition gracefully from pharmaceutical engagements to heavy manufacturing engagements and consistently deliver quality service and focused solutions to his clients.

In April 2011, Chad received Special Recognition from Genesis for his services performed with MedImmune. Chad has initiated improvements in the areas of storeroom management, data accuracy, reliability services, support and technical infrastructure. As a result of his performance, Chad has recently been named the MedImmune Business Owner of the Maximo application.

GenesisSolutions Reliability Project Recap

Pfizer Australia

During the fourth quarter of 2010 GenesisSolutions completed a reliability project for three Pfizer sites in Australia. This effort was targeted at enhancing reliability improvements at each plant by providing focus on:

Reliability Engineering Methodology & Tools

Equipment Changeovers

Mature Asset Maintenance and Support

A number of Pfizer Global Reliability Program (GRP) tools were incorporated into the project in order to continue standardizing on the Pfizer Global Reliability methodology.
