The world leader in Heavy Duty Truck components needed to standardize, modernize and globally integrate their CMMS package to the latest technologies and improve their maintenance strategy.  The primary reasons for implementing were to reduce cost, improve reliability, standardize business process and integrate all facilities with single enterprise wide maintenance management solution.

Genesis was brought in because of their extensive knowledge of implementing maintenance management systems in a lean manufacturing environment, employing inventory and materials management strategies and utilizing engineering services advance system content.

Genesis Role

The first phase was to help implement work

management across the Truck Division, including standardizing business processes and maintenance practices.  The Customer engaged GenesisSolutions engineering services to assist in the data collection of Assets and development of Preventive Maintenance plans for the new transmission assembly lines installed across the division.

The second Phase was the rollout of Inventory and Purchasing.  Collection and normalization of inventory data across the sites was the first step.  Defining and implementing purchasing business process to integrate with financial systems was the successive step.

Along other activities to provide continuousness improvement was:

  • Human Resources labor interface
  • Gear lab Quality Assurance custom application
  • Labor training matrix custom application
  • Fluid management monitoring for lubricating and cutting oils
  • Serialized cutting tool tracking application
  • Creating of standardized KPI and report metrics
  • GenesisSolutions was called upon again when the customer needed to upgrade their system to the latest version of Maximo to take advantage language capabilities.  All existing sites were upgraded and a new site was successfully implemented in China.
