Equipment / Asset Walk Downs

3.1 reliability 307x1951 Equipment / Asset Walk DownsOne of the cornerstones of a leading-edge reliability program is accurate and up-to-date equipment inventory with descriptive data. The Genesis approach to creating or enhancing the equipment database has five steps, beginning with an examination of the existing data stored in your maintenance management system to identify plant equipment.

This information forms the basis for a plan to visit each asset in the field. The physical walk-down includes location and documentation of each equipment asset, rigorous collection of nameplate specifications and equipment attributes such as manufacturer, model and serial numbers. This information is recorded and then reviewed with plant personnel and equipment manufacturers to identify and fill any information gaps. Genesis will then prepare data for customer upload into the CMMS or modify the existing database, using rigorous quality control procedures. Incomplete, out-of-date and inaccurate equipment records are also updated.
